Privacy policy

Last updated 16 October 2026.

Ashley Marsh, trading as A J Marsh Private Dining (“I”), is responsible for the personal details you send through this website. If you have a question about them, email ajmarshchef@gmail.com or message 07720 746090.

What I collect, and why

When you enquire: your name, email address, phone number if you give it, the date, your postcode, the number of guests, the occasion, any dietary needs, a rough budget, how you found me and anything you write in the message. I use it to reply, to plan and quote for your dinner, and, if you go ahead, to cook it. The legal basis is taking steps you asked for before entering into a contract. Dietary needs can reveal health information; I only use them to cook safely for your guests, and only because you chose to tell me.

When you browse: if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics records which pages are visited, roughly where from (town or region, not your address) and on what kind of device. It doesn’t tell me who you are. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time on the cookie policy page. Vercel, who host the site, also count visits without cookies and without identifying anyone; the legal basis is my legitimate interest in knowing which pages are useful.

I don’t sell your details, and I don’t use them for marketing.

Who else handles it

  • Dalton Digital Ltd (registered in England and Wales, company 15930308), who look after this website, deliver enquiries to me and keep a copy of each so none is lost.
  • Vercel Inc. host the website.
  • Cloudflare, Inc. run the spam check (Turnstile) on the enquiry form.
  • Google provide Google Analytics, which only runs if you accept it.

Some of these companies may process data outside the UK. Where they do, it’s protected by UK adequacy regulations or the standard contractual clauses the UK recognises.

How long I keep it

An enquiry that doesn’t become a booking is deleted after 12 months. If you book, I keep your details while I’m working for you and then for as long as the law requires for business records (six years for tax records). Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what I hold about you, and ask me to correct it, delete it or stop using it: email ajmarshchef@gmail.com or message 07720 746090. I’ll reply within a month.

If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your details, please tell me first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or 0303 123 1113.
